The Inclusive Norwich Partnership has been working closely with Norwich City Football Club's (NCFC) disabled season ticket holders and Canaries Trust members to trial a match day mobility bus. This initiative aims to improve accessibility for fans who may struggle with mobility. The bus route starts at County Hall's car park and goes directly to Carrow Road. The trial began last Saturday during the Millwall fixture.

Collaboration for a Common Goal

This bus scheme is a collaborative effort involving several key organisations. Partners include NCFC, The Canaries Trust, Norwich Door to Door, Norfolk County Council, Age UK Norwich, the Inclusive Norwich Partnership, and Age Friendly Norwich. Each organisation brings unique expertise and resources to the table, ensuring that the initiative meets the needs of the community effectively.

Who Can Benefit from the Mobility Bus?

The pilot service is designed for anyone with mobility issues. It is particularly beneficial for those who find it challenging or are unable to walk between County Hall and Carrow Road. Additionally, the service can accommodate users of folding wheelchairs, making it more inclusive.

Future Prospects for the Mobility Bus

Accessibility in sports is crucial for creating an inclusive environment. When everyone can participate, it enhances the overall experience for fans and players alike. Sports clubs have a responsibility to ensure that all fans, regardless of their physical abilities, can enjoy the game.

As the pilot progresses, there is potential for expansion. Feedback from users will be essential in determining the future of the mobility bus. If successful, this initiative could lead to permanent services, making match days more accessible for everyone.

Conclusion

The Inclusive Norwich Partnership's mobility bus initiative is a significant step towards enhancing accessibility for fans with mobility issues. Through collaboration and community involvement, this project aims to create a more inclusive environment at Norwich City Football Club.
